I created a website using www.ning.com. The site is based on Sport Cars and is ideal for anyone who already is or is not interested on sport cars. The site is very brief and quite basic. It allows the user to do the following:
-
View Videos
-
View Pictures
-
Join Forum and start discussions
-
Join Groups.
Before i actually started creating my site i visited several sites to get an idea on how to layout the site and to decide what functions are needed, in terms of pictures, videos and general information about the cars. A site which i visited on a regular basis was www.maxpower.co.uk, which provided with the relevant information i needed.
my site www.sharjeel.ning.com is a very user friendly site as the colours which were used in designing the site is suitable for the audience as the colours are not too bright yet not too dull. It is very easy to navigate around the site as eveything is noticeable to the user such as the headings.
Content
As the site is about cars i have included a logo of my site on the top left hand site which indicates to the user that this is the homepage. The logo is shown in every page which i think isnt a good thing as it may mis-lead the user in thinking that this is not the homepage. The colours are suitable for the site and very appealing to the user. There is no jargon used what so ever and i have limited the amount of white space available. Information viewed in the site are mainly videos and pictures.
User interface
The user can navigate through the site very easily. It can also govern or inform ways in which content can be presented and delivered. More broadly however, the site also encompasses the relationship between the user and the website and as such directly affects the way in which those users perceive the website.
Interaction
The site includes a vast amout of interaction between one user to another. It has a Forum page which holds discussions and posting user generated content. It aslo contains a group page which allows user to create a group which will prompt other users in joining the same group and then eventually discussing information.
